In addition to 3,104 traffic violations, they were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by members of the Police, throughout Cyprus, from 13/01/2025 to 19/01/2025.
Police members, within the framework of traffic checks carried out throughout Cyprus, proceeded with 1,108 reports concerning exceeding the speed limit, 124 reports for failure to use a seat belt by drivers and passengers, 13 reports for failure to use a protective helmet and 205 reports for using a mobile phone while driving. Also, 62 complaints were made for driving under the influence of alcohol, 36 complaints for illegal parking, 28 for parking in disabled spaces and 1,528 complaints for committing other traffic offenses.
Additionally, in the context of traffic controls, 21 complaints for drug tests, 84 car impoundments and 17 two-wheeled vehicle impoundments arose.
Traffic police controls continue daily, with the aim of preventing fatal and serious traffic collisions, as well as instilling good road awareness among all road users.
