The 32-year-old defendant in the case of the large quantity of drugs, which was detected after a coordinated operation by the YKAN Headquarters, in November 2024 in a parking lot of a beach hotel in Limassol, rejected the request to be released with conditions and specifically on bail of €300,000 with a creditworthy guarantor.
The Permanent Assize Court of Limassol, in its decision today, rejected the request of the defense lawyer of the 32-year-old defendant to be released with restrictive conditions. The request to the Court was made last Friday with the defendant's lawyer recommending that his client be released under restrictive conditions and specifically that she report 3 times a day to a Police Station, deposit bail with a creditworthy guarantor of €300,000, hand over her travel documents and be prohibited from leaving ports and barricades. while her details should be placed in the list of persons whose exit from Cyprus is prohibited.
The Assize Court, in its decision today, rejected the request, stressing that, despite the personal circumstances of the 32-year-old and the fact that she maintains a bank account, they are not such as to override ensuring her presence at the trial. The ruling also noted that the risk of absconding is visible, while the 32-year-old faces serious offences and there is a possibility of conviction.
The next trial was set for a response to the multi-page indictment facing the 3 defendants in late February.
The Court ordered that all 3 defendants remain under trial in the Central Prison until the next hearing.

Police have been investigating a complaint of sexual harassment of a secondary school student in Nicosia by one of her teachers since the middle of last week.
According to our information, the complaint was made last Wednesday by the student's mother.
The latter has already given a videotaped statement to competent police officials last Friday.
On the same day, according to our information, a letter was sent by the Office for the Handling of Family Violence and Child Abuse of the Police to the Ministry of Education in order to suspend the complainant.
This is in order to proceed with the police examinations without the risk of contamination of the Police's investigative work being visible.
A source, upon our question, clarified that this is a case of "sexual harassment" and not "abuse".
Besides, a competent source told us that the Ministry of Education has already activated the relevant mechanism. The Education Service Commission has been informed in order to suspend the teacher.
