The balance between SoftBank's reservations and the advantages offered by nuclear power needs careful handling, since it is a form of energy that cannot be ignored in the long-term planning for Stargate's success.

At the same time, private companies, local and regulatory authorities should coordinate and cooperate. Whether the system can meet these needs or whether bureaucracy and reactivity will slow progress are among the most critical questions for the success of the project.

Who will fill 100,000 jobs?

At these levels, leadership must not only serve the vision – but put it into practice through an administration that is fully in line with the stakes.

OpenAI: OpenAI's technical expertise is valuable to Stargate, but the organization has faced criticism in the past, namely that it sacrificed control and oversight for the sake of speed. The stakes are very high and "speed should not destroy things". Stargate needs a clear supervisory framework and balances to ensure that any errors at the governance level do not derail the project.

Transparency and trust: Managing a mix of public funds, private investment and sensitive national infrastructure requires total transparency. Stargate must be governed by robust mechanisms that will monitor the progress, milestones and results of the project. Equally important is the public's trust in the project, which will inevitably be tested. Clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders – including citizens – will be crucial to curb scepticism and ensure unwavering support for the project. Strong leadership, independent oversight and transparency will turn Stargate's potential into reality.

Just as Sematech, based in Austin, Texas, revamped the U.S. semiconductor industry in the 1980s, or DARPA, which pioneered transformative technologies like the internet, Stargate wants to lay the foundation for long-term U.S. leadership in AI. Bold, coordinated initiatives can ensure technological and economic dominance, and Stargate seeks to do just that in the field of Artificial Intelligence. However, its impact can go far beyond technology.

Economic revitalization: Creating over 100,000 jobs and promoting infrastructure development across the country. By creating cutting-edge data centers and promoting regional development, it could transform areas hitherto unrelated to the tech industry into economic centers of prosperity.

Global competition: As China invests in artificial intelligence, Stargate is the bold response of the US to maintain its technological advantage. Ensuring a stable and sustainable energy supply is both complex and urgent, especially in key regions such as Texas, where the grid is already under pressure. Proactive planning and streamlining of regulations will be crucial to avoid energy supply bottlenecks and ensure effective project development.

Workforce development: Creating and training a workforce of 100,000 skilled professionals will require the outstanding collaboration between industry leaders, academics, professional schools, and government agencies. Upgrading existing employees, transitioning talented people from other sectors, and aligning training programs with Stargate's specific needs are essential conditions to avoid workforce shortages.
