MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


Between 07/01/2025 – 02/05/2025, on Kremmastis Street in Episkopi, a roundabout construction work will be carried out by a private contractor. During the works, the following arrangements will apply: • A section of Kremmastis Street will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Achaion and Argous Streets. • Also, the exit from the Paphos – Limassol motorway towards Limassol at the Episkopi junction will be closed and traffic from the motorway to Episkopi will be diverted via the immediately following Kantou junction. Also, on the Larnaca Airport-Agia Napa and Larnaca-Kofinos motorways, during the period 13/01/2025-31/03/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, green pruning works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorways by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions. Traffic will continue to flow unhindered in the traffic lanes.

Also on the Larnaca Airport-Agia Napa motorway, from Thursday 23/01/2025 to Monday 27/01/2025, daily except Sunday, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, works will be carried out to install boundary markers in both directions. The works will start in the direction from Larnaca to Ayia Napa. During the works, only the shoulder of the road will be closed in sections with the use of appropriate markings. Also on the Larnaca – Kofinou motorway, from Friday 10/01/2025 until Friday 31/01/2025, excluding Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, work will be carried out to cut and remove grass, as well as remove unnecessary objects from the shoulders and slopes of the motorway in both directions, including the junctions. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will continue to flow unhindered in the traffic lanes. Also on the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from Wednesday 15/01/2025 until Friday 31/01/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30–14:30, work will be carried out to install reflective elements on the concrete safety barriers of the central island of the motorway, towards Kofinou. During the work, the right lane of the motorway will be closed in sections, for a distance of approximately 2 kilometers, and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. On the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway in both directions towards Nicosia and towards Larnaca, from Monday 20/01/2025 until Friday 07/02/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, work will be carried out to replace the reflective elements of the metal safety barriers installed on the shoulders of the motorway. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out without hindrance in the traffic lanes. On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, the work carried out since September 2024 on the Kalavasos bridge is extended. The upgrade/repair work on the Kalavasos bridge is extended until 25/01/2025. During the works, the two lanes of the motorway towards Limassol, approximately 1 km long, will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate in two-way traffic. Also, the entrance to the motorway towards Limassol from the old Limassol-Nicosia road at the Zygi junction will be closed and traffic from the old road to the motorway will be diverted via the Governor's Beach junction. On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, on the section of the Limassol Bypass, from the New Hospital interchange to the Mouttagiaka interchange in both directions, during the period 09/01/2025 – 27/02/2025, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 the next morning, from Monday to Thursday, rainwater sluice cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections over a length of 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Also on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, works will be carried out to replace expansion/contraction joints on the Almyros Bridge, in both directions of the motorway, from 21:00 on Friday evening 17/01/2025 until 06:00 on Sunday morning 19/01/2025. During the works, the left lane in both directions will be closed for approximately 500 meters and traffic will be diverted through the middle and right lanes. The Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, from the height of the Oroklini Fire Station to the Oroklini Organized Beach (Kiosk), will be closed to traffic in both directions from 03/7/2024 for seven months, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C". During the works, traffic will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.

From Friday 19/7/2024 and for a period of approximately 6 months, construction works will be carried out on Akamantos Street near the Church of Panagia Zalakiotissa in Pegeia. During the works, traffic to and from Pegeia will be diverted via Racherou, Sarakkou and Koliakas streets, in accordance with the on-site road markings. Only residents will be allowed to enter the intermediate work area. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous Avenue, Argyroupoleos Avenue and Section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Ippokratous Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their intersection with Themistokleous Street to Nikaias Street and Kentavrou Street respectively. On the old Paphos-Limassol road, during the period 13/5/2024 – 12/5/2025 (for 12 months), construction work will be carried out to stabilize a section of the road, opposite Petra tou Romiou (near the CTO refreshment bar in Petra tou Romiou). During the works, the section of the road being reconstructed will not be available to traffic. There will be continuous and unhindered traffic police traffic on both sides of the construction site boundaries. Traffic on the old Paphos-Limassol road from Paphos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Paphos from the Pissouri exit, on the Paphos-Limassol motorway. Also on the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the section near Petra tou Romiou, construction work on road stabilization measures will be carried out between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025. Specifically, the works will be carried out to stabilize the slope and the road surface, as part of the 2nd Phase of the works being carried out on the road, following the major landslides that had occurred since 2019. During the works period, 17/06/2024-16/06/2025, a section of the old Limassol-Paphos road, near Petra tou Romiou, will be temporarily closed to traffic in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol. The temporary signage will be the same as in the 1st Phase of Works. Specifically, the necessary signage and information will be placed on the parallel section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, as well as on the two cut-off sections on the old Limassol-Paphos road, near the western Pissouri-Petra tou Romiou exit and near the Kouklia exit, to inform drivers intending to head towards Petra tou Romiou. On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, on Monday 20/01/2025 and Tuesday 21/01/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning, removal and resurfacing works of the existing road surface will be carried out. A section of the road will be closed from its junction with United Nations Street and for a length of approximately 500m in the direction of Limassol. Drivers heading from Latsia to Dali / Limassol are advised to use the United Nations, Ermou and Tefkrou Anthia streets (via the Idalion Industrial Area) in turn. Drivers heading from Limassol to Latsia are advised to use the Nicosia-Limassol motorway via the traffic light controlled intersection in the Idalion area. During the works, appropriate temporary signage will be in place to ensure smooth traffic flow in the various directions. In the Vasilikos area, fencing works are underway at the Vasilikos Energy Center from Thursday, February 22, 2024, and will last until February 2025.
