ETAP OF PAPHOS REGION EXPANDS

In the context of implementing the strategic objectives for the strengthening and further development of the province, the Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company has recently expanded its forces with the inclusion of 7 new communities as Members, the Community of Amargeti, Episkopi, Mandria, Panagia, Agios Fotios Statos, Steni, and Fiti.

These Communities indicate a particular interest in upgrading and with their inclusion in the Paphos Region Regional Development Agency, cooperation and momentum towards common goals are expected to be further strengthened.  Through a collective effort and with weapons, the appetite for hard work, the means and the know-how that they have together, the synergy will aim at the further upgrading of each Community and the promotion of the hinterland in general inside and outside Cyprus.

Priorities initially set with new members are:

  1. Beautification of areas/combating visual pollution/upgrading the built environment.
  2. Protection and further promotion of monuments/points of interest.
  3. Evaluation of the experiences offered/upgrading existing ones and creating new ones
  4. Promoting communities and the experiences they offer through ETAP's NDCs
  5. Contribution to the organization and promotion of cultural events.
  6. Evaluation and contribution to upgrading the digital presence of communities through the adoption of technological tools.
  7. Inclusion of some communities in the Council of Europe route “The Roads of the Olive Tree”
  8. Upgrading the Public Beach and the services offered in the Community of Mandria. Examining the possibility of extending the Quality Coast Award to the Community.
  9. Coordination for claiming funds from national resources and European Programs
  10. Continuation of efforts to strengthen the connection of regions with adequate public
    transport.

Within the next few weeks, meetings between executives of the Paphos ETAP and representatives of the Communities are expected to be arranged with the aim of better coordination and the start of implementation of specific actions.  

The Paphos hinterland, under certain conditions, has a future, has prospects, and through collective effort, much can be achieved.
