Filenews

As part of the investigation of cases of burglary and theft, motorcycle theft, malicious damage and illegal possession of property, the Police arrested two 18-year-old men to facilitate investigations.

With the two new arrests, the total number of arrests in the above cases rises to three, since a 20-year-old resident of Nicosia is already in detention.

Yesterday morning the two 18-year-olds were brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a five-day detention order against them. The investigations into the above cases began after evaluating relevant information and a search conducted at the 20-year-old's home on January 6. During the investigation, various products were identified, which as the 20-year-old allegedly admitted, come from three burglaries, committed in school canteens and parks in the Nicosia district, between 07/11/2024 and 27/12/2024.

During the investigation, a motorcycle was also found in an underground parking lot of the apartment building, where the 20-year-old resides, which had been reported as stolen on 27/01/2024.

The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

A member of a special police team is the special constable who was arrested earlier yesterday in an investigated corruption case.

According to Filenews, the police officer in question was reported by an Indian delivery man that a few days ago, he stopped him on the street and asked him for the money he had with him. The Indian allegedly gave him €400.

About a week later, according to the complaint, the same constable stopped the Indian and asked him again for the money he was holding. He allegedly gave him €40 and left.

The Indian initially filed a complaint with the police but was not believed.

Subsequently, his complaint was examined more thoroughly and cameras were identified that seem to have changed the data, resulting in the Internal Audit Service of the Police (Y.E.E.A.) proceeding to arrest the special police officer for offenses related to corruption, abuse of power, decimation of a public official, etc.

Today it is expected to be decided whether the arrested man will be brought before a court to request his detention or released.

The 63-year-old Ukrainian woman, who was arrested on suspicion of her husband's death, has been breathing an air of freedom since Wednesday night. Forensic examination, DNA results, and other scientific tests locked in the suicide and confirmed her claims.

According to reliable information of "F", the forensic report of Nikolas Charalambous left open the possibility of suicide. The report includes literature supporting the coroner's findings from the 62-year-old's autopsy, the autopsy performed in the apartment, and the forensic examination of the 63-year-old wife. Neither the 63-year-old nor the 62-year-old had defensive or offensive injuries, and no damage was observed in the apartment.

The investigators of the ICF Limassol received yesterday the results of DNA and other scientific tests. The same information states that testimonies and evidence collected confirmed the 63-year-old's claims.

It is recalled that the 63-year-old was brought last Sunday before the Court, where her detention order was renewed for another four days. The decree expires on Thursday, but the investigators of the ICF of Limassol, following instructions received from the Legal Service, released her last night.

It is noted that the victim's wife from the first moment claimed that it was a suicide. The unfortunate man was found dead in their apartment on the evening of December 27, suffering a single stab wound to the chest.
