The Paphos Police arrested a young Greek Cypriot woman yesterday following a written complaint and statement given by her partner, also from Paphos.

The complainant reported to the Police that she received threats from her partner, while as she claimed the suspect seems to have mistreated her already. Among the complaints that the Police are examining is a report by the complainant about a case involving a kidnapping.

Specifically, according to information from PafosPress, the young woman complained that recently, after an argument that preceded between the two, the accused forced her to get into the car by force, while according to everything she claims, it seems that she also received threats that she will harm her.  

The suspect was arrested yesterday Thursday and today she appeared before the Paphos District Court which ordered her five-day detention to facilitate investigations.

Members of the Police arrested a 44-year-old man in the context of an investigation into three cases of theft of components from electricity supply systems from EAC substations in the Nicosia district, while a case of car theft is also being investigated against the 44-year-old.

The cases of theft were reported yesterday Friday to the ICF of Nicosia by an EAC officer. According to the complaint, from three EAC substations in the Yeri area, a number of fuse bases and a number of other items were stolen.

The examinations conducted by the members of the ICF of Nicosia revealed evidence against the 44-year-old and a judicial arrest warrant was issued against him. He was spotted by ICF members shortly after 11.00 on Friday, in an area of the Nicosia district, driving a car, the theft of which had also been reported yesterday, shortly before 5.30 pm, to the ICF of Nicosia.

The members of the Police stopped the 44-year-old and proceeded to arrest him for the offence of illegal possession of property, while later, at the offices of the ICF of Nicosia, he was also arrested pursuant to the court warrant issued regarding the cases of theft of equipment from EAC substations.

The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

Members of the Limassol Police arrested a 33-year-old man as part of an investigation into a case of burglary and theft. The case is being investigated by the ICF of Limassol.

The burglary was reported to the ICF of Limassol last Thursday, 02 January, by the owner of a painting workshop, which is located in Limassol. According to the evidence under investigation, between 01 and 02 January, the painting workshop was burglarized, from where various objects were stolen, including a laptop computer, as well as two rings.

Following evidence emerged, members of the Police conducted searches in an area in Limassol, where in an abandoned house, they located yesterday the 33-year-old suspect, in whose possession part of the stolen property was found, including the two rings that had been stolen.

The 33-year-old was arrested for the offence of illegal possession of property and was detained for the purpose of investigating the case of burglary and theft, with examinations continuing by the ICF of Limassol.

Members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of a 24-year-old man for flagrant offences of violence in sports venues, during their intervention to suppress a riot, which occurred after the end of the football match between AEK Larnaca and Omonia Nicosia. During the rioting incidents, a police officer, a member of an anti-riot team of the MMAD, was injured.

Specifically, at the end of the football match, around 9.45 pm on Friday, approximately 50 AEK fans from the east side of the stadium moved menacingly towards fans of the Omonia team, on the north side of the stadium, trying to move the movable metal railings, which in the context of measures for the safe conduct of the match, were placed outside the stadium.

An anti-riot team of the MMAD intervened and stopped the fans, immediately suppressing the riot. The members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of a 24-year-old man, for the offenses of rioting, concealing a face, assaulting a police officer, as well as resisting his lawful arrest.

The 24-year-old was taken to the offices of the Larnaca ICF, where, after being questioned, he was charged in writing and released, to be summoned before a Court for trial of the case.

During the riot, a police officer, a member of the MMAD, was injured by the fall of a mobile metal railing. He was transferred to Larnaka General Hospital, where after receiving medical examinations, it was found that he had suffered swelling in the face, in the area of the right eye. The police officer was treated and discharged.

The examinations are continued by the ICF of Larnaca.
