Technopolis 20 warmly welcomes back the celebrated duo of cellist Robertas Grod and pianist Angeles Iglesias for a beautiful Chamber Music Evening on Wednesday, 26th of February 2025, at 8pm. Renowned for their captivating performances, this beloved duo has become a favourite among the Cyprus audience.
For their return to Technopolis 20, Grod and Iglesias will present a dynamic program that spans diverse musical styles and emotions, featuring Zoltán Kodály's Sonatina, a piece of lyrical charm and Hungarian folk influences, Giorgos Karvellos’ The Windows (2024), a contemporary work infused with fresh perspectives, Franz Schubert's Sonata in a minor, “Arpeggione”, a masterpiece of melancholic beauty and technical brilliance, and Astor Piazzolla's Le Grand Tango, a fiery and passionate blend of classical music and Argentinian tango.

A few words abouts the musicians

MARIA DE LOS ÁNGELES IGLESIAS

Piano professor at the University of Brasilia, Ángeles Iglesias currently resides in Nicosia, Cyprus.
She started her musical career in Spain, later in Vienna with Professor Hans Graf, in whose “Hochschüle für Musik und Darstellende Kunst” she got her Master´s Diploma with the highest qualification: “Auszeichnung” (cum laude).
She is winner of some prizes in international piano competitions, such as “Manuel de Falla” in Spain, “Bösendorfer” in Austria or “Alessandro Casagrande” in Italy.
She has performed in important theatres, Teatre de la Monnaie in Brussels or Musikverein in Vienna are good examples. Her first CD was recorded life in Montreal, Canada, in Glen Gould´s piano.
In Georgia, in Jansug Kakhidze theatre, she was invited to be the soloist for the world première of Shalva Mshvelidze´s concerto for piano and orchestra, with Maestro David Muckeria as conductor.
Her performances through America and Europe have been always successful, and her last recording with Chopin Sonatas 1 and 3, was highly acclaimed by the specialized critic.

ROBERTAS GROD was born in 1991 in Lithuania. Started cello lessons at the age of 6. Studied in Vilnius Balys Dvarionas music school (class of J. Veiverienė). He is laureate prize winner of national competitions (B. Dvarionas, J. Urba). In 2010 he entered Moscow State Conservatory (class of Prof. N. Shakhovskaya). In 2012 he won the 1st prize at Kozolupov international cello competition in Moscow. In 2016 he graduated the conservatory with honours and since then he lives and works as a teacher in Cyprus. Robertas often gives recitals across Cyprus and Lithuania, participates in national festivals
