The contractor's announcement is as follows.
"Regarding the project for the improvement of the main road network of the Akamas National Forest Park (Phase A), Cyfield clarifies the following:
On December 23, 2024, our company, exercising its contractual rights, was forced to terminate the contract for the implementation of the said project, informing the Contracting Authority accordingly.
This decision was taken due to the long suspension of works from December 2023, which far exceeded the 84 days stipulated in the contract and for which we had agreed without any financial requirements. In addition, there was non-payment, within the stipulated timeframes, of certified and evaluated amounts due to our company
Throughout the suspension of works, from December 2023, we have made every effort to continue and complete the works or to terminate the contract through an amicable settlement.
As a sign of goodwill and despite the violation of contractual terms, our company continued to renew the letters of guarantee until December 15, 2024, in order to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Unfortunately, this was not possible, and we were therefore forced to send a letter to terminate the contract.
