"THE CONSOLIDATION OF PAPHOS AS A REGIONAL UNIVERSITY CENTRE AMONG THE GOALS"

Among other things, the Mayor of Paphos Phaedonas Phaedonos aims for the consolidation of Paphos as a regional university center and as a center of university education for 2025.

In his statements to the KYPE, Mr. Phaedonos notes that he aims to increase the number of students, but also to operate the Regional Innovation Center and a Regional Center for special courses on innovation and entrepreneurship.

In addition, he also referred to the projects that are in progress, stating that in 2025 he aims to continue them and also to complete their implementation.

Mr. Phaedonos noted that for 2025 he will promote the implementation of two new museums in the city as well as the Center for Historical Documentation. This is a pioneering project, as he said, for the city's data, a project that will include a Museum to highlight and promote the history of the city and the regeneration of squares and streets in the area that stretches from the Old Central Police Station to the Park of the Armenians .

He added that the central idea running through the project is the creation in the heart of the historic center of Paphos of a "pocket of culture and architectural heritage" with high-quality infrastructure for pedestrians. Through the project, the Municipality of Paphos aims to create a bridge of memory and architecture between the Museum of Historical Memory and the exterior of the old town, he added.

Furthermore, the Mayor of Paphos said that the operation of the Center for the Third Age is being promoted, a project worth €15 million, as he mentioned. He also announced that within 2025 the bidding process and the start of the works for the creation of a Center that will deal with issues of juvenile delinquency are underway.  

The Mayor of Paphos noted that he will continue to give priority to the parks of Paphos and also to culture. "We want to upgrade the quality of cultural events and cultural activity in the city of Paphos", he concluded.
