SHOCKING INCIDENTS WITH STUDENTS - THEY RISK THEIR LIVES AND CLIMB ON THE BACK OF BUSES FOR FUN

Filenews 16 December 2024 - by Ioanna Mantzipia

Shocking and extremely dangerous incidents take place in Limassol, highlighting frivolity by some students. Young boys choose to climb into the back of moving buses, risking their own lives for reasons of "fun" or peer provocation. This act not only puts them at immediate risk, but also raises serious questions about the lack of control and awareness by both parents and society.

This phenomenon has been recorded seven times recently in Limassol. This is unacceptable behaviour that can lead to tragedy, with the slightest carelessness potentially fatal and bus drivers worried about whether they can work in normal conditions.

Speaking to Filenews, EMEL spokesperson Petros Theocharides stresses the serious danger that lurks, as a fall can be fatal. Drivers find it difficult to perceive minors who were on the back of buses, which increases the risk of an accident.

According to Theocharides, four of the seven incidents took place outside Gymnasiums and Lyceums in Eastern Limassol. At the same time, it clarifies that the majority of students already have annual or monthly travel cards, which proves that this act is not related to avoiding paying a ticket.

As he points out, the Limassol Police Department has been informed about the incidents, while appealing to parents, teachers and society in general, to raise awareness and prevent similar behaviours.

Indicative is the video that is making the rounds on the internet, where four minors are recorded to have climbed on the back of a bus that moves on a main road of Limassol and specifically in the tourist area of Germasogeia.
