According to an announcement by the Official Gazette - Paphos Department, in the first part of the event, at the Attikon multipurpose hall, in Paphos, the winners of the 10th Cyprus Photo Marathon were awarded and all the participants in the action were honoured with a display of all the photos.

In the second part of the event, which took place in Agios Kendeas Square on Makariou Street 3, the installation of the 8th "The Wall" was inaugurated, followed by a reception for the attendees.

The president of FEK-Paphos Section, Thanos Savvidis, in his speech mentioned that the Photomarathon's main goal is social participation and the promotion of the art of photography to the wider public.

Through this lens, the Photomarathon is, as he said, "a challenge for those who deal with photography but also for those others who do not have such a direct contact with art, but wish to tackle it even occasionally".

In this year's competition, the jury, consisting of Argyro Christodoulou, photographer, Secretary of FEK-Limesos Department, Christos Konstantinidis, photographer, Municipal Engineer of the Municipality of Paphos and Savva Agathokleus, photographer, Member of the Board of FEK-Paphos Department, gave the participants 4 topics to photograph in the 4 hour time frame.

Mr. Savvidis noted that "The Wall" is one of the international actions of FEK Paphos and has managed in the last 8 years to promote Paphos abroad and at the same time to present modern international photography in our city.

The main goal of “The Wall” is to transform a public open space into an art exhibition space and to show photography to a wider audience away from its typical exhibition spaces.

Following an open call, photographers from Cyprus and abroad sent their entries to compete in the Urban Environment or Street Photography categories. The jury, consisting of Joanna Madloch (USA), Taras Bychko (Ukraine) and Maros Kouri (Greece), evaluated and graded each photo.

The top 30 photos were placed on the wall at a public exhibition in Agios Kendeas Square, while the first 60 photos were shown during the event.

This year there were entries from 15 different countries while the installation presents photographers from Cyprus, Greece, USA, Finland, Slovakia, Philippines, Australia, France, Germany, Poland and Great Britain. The Wall_8th Edtition installation will remain on site for 11 months.
