After the serious complaints made on Sunday by the Mayor of Pafos, Phaedon Phaedonos, about the lack of beds and staff in the Paediatric Department of Paphos Hospital, as well as the death of a 6-year-old child, the officials seem to have increased beds and staff.
As the Mayor of Pafos mentions in his new post on X: "From 9 beds in the paediatric department of Pafos General Hospital from yesterday to 14 and added 4 staff. They are close to reaching 17 beds in this department, the number they were before the pandemic. Oh you are irresponsible and mediocre why didn't you do it for so long?"
We remind you that on Sunday, Mr. Phedonos, in a statement, pointed his arrows at the competent authorities, on the occasion of two incidents at the Pafos hospital.
Specifically, "a child from the Polis Chrysochous apartment, with pneumonia and tachycardia, is rushed to a hospital in Limassol because Paphos General Hospital has no empty beds in the paediatric department. The distance increases the risk to his life. Four years the same scene, while some celebrate "successes". How much inefficiency?"
But the worst incident involved the death of a 6-year-old girl. As Phaedon Phaedonos had reported, "a 6-year-old child passed away who had gastroenteritis 5 days ago. She went to Paphos General Hospital and because they were unable to handle the incident and because they did not have a bed, she was sent to Nicosia after more than 2 hours. Some don't even respect the lives of young children. The responsibilities of those who leave Pafos General Hospital in this tragic state of inadequacy are enormous."
