68.8% of Cypriots lived in their own privately owned house in 2023, slightly below the EU average (69.2%), according to data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
31.2% of Cypriots lived in rented housing during the same period, slightly above the EU average (30.8%).
The highest ownership rates among Member States in 2023 were recorded in Romania (95.6%), Slovakia (93.6%) and Croatia (91.2%).
The lowest rates were recorded in Germany (47.6%), Austria (54.3%) and Denmark (60.0%).
