A fire that started from a warehouse where chemicals are stored started the catastrophic fire at the desalination plant of Pafos.
The fire department received a call shortly before 7:30 p.m. The fire spread rapidly, causing almost complete destruction to the only desalination plant in the Pafos district.

Firefighters, police officers and officers of the competent state services begin today investigating the causes of the fire that completely destroyed the Pafos desalination plant.
The unit operated in the coastal area between the communities of Kouklia and Mandria. The fire appears to have started in a warehouse where chemicals needed to treat and purify seawater were stored.
The Fire Department received a call to extinguish the fire a few minutes before seven thirty pm and brought it under control shortly before midnight. At the time of the fire, there were staff on the factory premises, who were not in danger.
