The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Andreas Gregoriou, told CyBC after the devastating fire at the Paphos desalination plant that the Deputy Director of the Water Development Department and the Director of the Pafos District Office went to the area of the desalination plant facilities to examine the situation on the spot.
Today, the damage will be assessed and scenarios will be worked out to ensure the uninterrupted water supply of the province from alternative sources. Mr. Grigoriou told CyBC that plans are expected to be made for the installation of new mobile units, with urgent procedures, in order to meet the needs of the Pafos district for the summer. The Pafos desalination plant had a capacity to produce fifteen thousand cubic meters of water per day.
