A road collision that occurred shortly after 11 last night in Limassol, resulted in the slight injury of a member of the Police.

The road collision occurred when a car driven by a 57-year-old man on the Arakapas – Kalo Chorio road, under conditions that are being investigated, entered oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a police vehicle.

As a result of the road collision, a member of the Police was slightly injured, who was transported by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.

The 57-year-old driver was given an alcohol test with a final reading of 107mg instead of 22μg, resulting in his arrest for the offence of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a road collision.

Police arrested one person this afternoon as part of an investigation into illegal possession of drugs and possession of drugs with intent to supply to other persons.

This is a 51-year-old man who was detained to facilitate interrogations.

The arrest of the 51-year-old was preceded shortly after noon yesterday by the arrest of his vehicle, in an area of Nicosia.  During a subsequent search, a quantity of white powder believed to be cocaine weighing approximately 256 grams, 100 pills believed to be ecstasy, as well as a sum of €8,395 were found inside the vehicle.  The YKAN (Nicosia Unit) continues the examinations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            * * * * * * 

Three children ended up in the Accident and Emergency Department of a private hospital in Limassol after being injured during a fight outside a café in the Ekali area.

According to the police, the fight started shortly after 7.00 last night, when a group of minors went outside the cafeteria, in the area of Ekali, where the other group was and started arguing with each other. The argument turned into a fight and then a scuffle.

The fight injured three minors who were taken to a private hospital in the city and after receiving first aid were dismissed. Specifically, a 14-year-old has a fractured teeth and traumatic head injuries while the other two have traumatic injuries.

Members of the Police who went to the area to impose order, located a 13-year-old, who was taken to the police headquarters, but due to his age, he was picked up by his parents. Police are investigating the case, with the cause of the fight attributed to parochial disputes between youths from different districts.
