Police arrested a 39-year-old man wanted for burglary and theft. The suspect was identified during a speed check on the Nicosia-Larnaka motorway, where he was driving at 194 kilometers per hour. The members of the Traffic Police followed him and managed to stop him nearby.
From the check that followed, it was found that the driver of the vehicle was a 39-year-old man, against whom a court arrest warrant was pending for a burglary and theft case committed in Nicosia. The suspect was arrested under the warrant and rearrested shortly afterwards for the offence of unlawful possession of property, after a sum of €95,330 was found in his car, for which he did not give sufficient explanations as to how it came into his possession.
The burglary for which the 39-year-old was arrested was committed between 7 and 10 December 2024 at a factory in Nicosia. According to the complaint made to the police, a large amount of money was stolen from the factory.
The 39-year-old is expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court today for a detention order. The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

A 22-year-old resident of Nicosia was arrested under a court warrant and detained to facilitate investigations into an ongoing car theft case.
The theft of the car was reported to the Police, by its owner on December 10, 2024. According to the complainant, the vehicle was stolen between the dates of 9 and 10 December 2024, while parked in an open area in Limassol. Three computers and a number of data storage devices were also allegedly found inside the vehicle.
The investigation of the case revealed testimony against the 22-year-old, on the basis of which a court warrant was issued for his arrest.
