A yellow warning for storms has been issued by the Department of Meteorology which is valid from 10:00 p.m. Saturday until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
As reported by the Department, isolated strong storms are expected to initially affect the north, west and south coasts and progressively the rest of the island.
Locally the intensity of the rain is expected to exceed 35 millimeters per hour.
In a storm, hail is expected to fall while the winds will change and strengthen.

The barometric low, named Alexandros and centered in the Aegean, is slowly moving eastward and beginning to affect the region.
Today the weather will be partly cloudy and locally at times mainly cloudy and isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, although the weather will be mostly clear in several areas in the morning. In a storm, hail is also possible. Winds will blow southwest to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and transient to the windward moderate, 4 Beaufort. In a storm, however, the winds can change and strengthen. The sea will be somewhat rough. The temperature will rise to around 24 degrees in the interior and on the coasts and around 13 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight the weather will be mainly cloudy with localized showers and isolated storms, initially on the north and west coasts and gradually in other areas. Hail is also expected to fall in a storm. The effects may be strong in places, especially on the coasts. Winds will be mainly south-east to south-west and locally variable, light to moderate and locally moderate to windward, 3 to 4 Beaufort, but in a storm they may change and strengthen. The sea to the north and west will be a little rough, but on the rest of the coasts it will become calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 12 degrees inland, around 15 on the south and east coasts, around 18 on the west and north coasts and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, the weather will be mostly cloudy and local rains and isolated storms are expected at intervals. Hail is also expected to fall in a storm, while the effects may be locally intense. From the evening, on the highest peaks of Troodos, it is possible that snow will fall.
On Monday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated storms, mainly in the mountains, in the western and northern regions. On the highest peaks of Troodos, it is possible that snow will fall. On Tuesday, locally increased clouds will be observed at times, which are expected to give isolated rain or even an isolated storm.
