Bus drivers in Paphos lift the handbrake on November 25.
Specifically, according to their announcement, the OMEPEGE-SEK and SEGDAMELIN-PEO unions inform the public that the employees of the "OSYPA" company decided, during their General Assembly held on November 13, to go on a 24-hour strike on Monday, November 25.
According to the announcement, this decision was taken in accordance with the provisions of the Industrial Relations Code, as the workers, in their General Assembly, also rejected the second mediation proposal of the Ministry of Labour.
As mentioned, despite continuous efforts to reach an agreement to renew the Collective Agreement, the inability to find common ground makes strike action necessary.
The workers and unions express their regret for the inconvenience that the traveling public will suffer, stating that the responsibility for this situation does not lie with them.
In his statements immediately after the General Assembly, the Provincial Secretary of the SEC Pafos, Petros Dimosthenous, emphasized that strike measures are inevitable, after the rejection of the mediation service's proposal.
Mr. Demosthenous pointed out that the workers remain open to dialogue, hoping that a mutually acceptable solution will soon be found that will guarantee their rights and restore the normality of public transport operations.
