SPONSORSHIP FOR ENERGY STORAGE TO BE APPROVED

 Filenews 14 November 2024

The Council of Ministers is expected to give the green light to an energy storage sponsorship scheme.

At the beginning of today's meeting of the Ministers, the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides said that "today we have some particularly important decisions that implement our pre-election program, all that we promised to the world. I want to mention some because they are very important," he said.

As he said, the first concerns the subsidy scheme for energy storage in combination with renewable energy sources (RES).

According to the President of the Republic "The aim of the plan is to increase the penetration of RES in our country's energy mix through the installation of energy storage systems."

As he explained, this is a project with a total cost of  €40 million and the potential beneficiaries will be existing small and medium-sized and large enterprises. "It was a promise, a pre-election announcement, which we are making today and I consider it particularly important in the context of our goal to reduce the price of electricity."
