PAPHOS GENERAL HOSPITAL - 'ONE DAY CARE' ONCOLOGY CLINIC FROM 2027

 Pafos Live 25 November 2024

We were particularly pleased to learn that the current government, responding to our suggestions and proposals, will upgrade and implement projects that aim to strengthen and upgrade our city's buildings and healthcare services. This positive development is a proof of our substantial dialogue and cooperation with the current Government for progress in the field of Health.

In particular, we are particularly pleased with the adoption of our proposal, which we proposed in September 2022, for the creation of a "One Day Care" oncology clinic, which will be housed on the second floor of the new building of Pafos Hospital. This project, which is expected to meet the significant needs of cancer patients, is part of the ongoing improvement of the medical services provided and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.

In addition, it was with great satisfaction that we were informed that after our continuous pressure and fervent suggestions, the upgrade of the Pafos Emergency Department (ICU) will proceed, as well as the Short-Term Care at the Emergency Department of Pafos General Hospital. The project, which is estimated to have a total expenditure of  €3.3 million, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. This upgrade will contribute significantly to the improvement of essential services, offering faster and better quality care to citizens.

In addition, regarding the Polis Chrysochous Hospital, following our suggestions, the creation of a Short-Term Care Department is foreseen, while the space of the Radiology Department will be upgraded. These actions will help better serve patients and are expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.

I would like to express my warm thanks to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Damianos, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Makis Keravnos, the Director General of the Cyprus Public Health Organization, Mr. Kypros Stavrides, as well as to all those who contributed to the implementation of these important projects. This decision is a decisive development for the Health sector and fills us with optimism for the future, as it enhances the accessibility and quality of healthcare services across Cyprus.
