TAX RETURNS 2023 - SUBMISSION DATE EXTENDED TO 30 NOVEMBER

The problems created by hackers with cyberattacks on the electronic system (and) of the Tax Department led to a final decision to extend the submission of tax returns for the tax year 2023.

Taxpayers were originally scheduled to file their tax returns by the end of October. Due to the situation created by cyberattacks and the impact on the operation of Taxisnet, for users with connections abroad, it was decided to extend for one month the submission of tax returns.

In an announcement, the Department of Taxation informs that "following instructions from the Minister of Finance, a proposal has been forwarded to the Council of Ministers for the extension until November 30, 2024 of the date of submission of the Individual's Income Declaration for the year 2023 and payment of any due Tax/Contributions arising in accordance with the Declaration".

At the next meeting of the Council of Ministers, the decree granting the extension is expected to be approved.

At the same time, an extension was granted to the date of submission of income declaration, by persons who are obliged to submit a summary table of controlled transactions information, for the years 2022 and 2023. The decision has already been taken by the Council of Ministers. According to an announcement by the Tax Department, the income declaration for the year 2022 is extended until February 28, 2025. For the income declaration for the year 2023 the extension will be until November 30, 2025. Relevant decrees will be posted on the website of the Department of Taxation immediately after their publication in the Official Gazette.
