Passenger traffic also increased in September with 1.4 million. Hermes Airports notes that there are positive signs for the upcoming winter season.
September ended on a positive note in terms of passenger traffic at the two airports of Cyprus, as 1.4 million passengers travelled to and from Larnaka and Pafos airports last month, giving another boost to this year's upward trend. Compared to September 2023, passenger traffic was up 7%, while this September's performance is an all-time record for the month.
In terms of the main markets, the first places for Larnaka Airport are occupied by the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland and Germany, while respectively for Pafos Airport the largest numbers of passengers came from the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Israel and France.
Passenger traffic also increased throughout the nine months. Specifically, in the period January – September, the two airports of Cyprus handled a total of 9.5 million passengers, recording an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year.
In October, flight scheduling continues to move around 1000 flights per week, while the data for the upcoming winter season are very positive so far. More specifically, for the period November – March, another 300,000 positions have been added compared to last year's corresponding period, which was already increased.
The Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication of Hermes Airports, Maria Kouroupi, stated that "It is very important to maintain the good prospects for a stable growth and to invest in the development of year-round connectivity, which will have many benefits for our country."
