The Municipality of Pafos, in an important decision to enhance safety in public spaces, announces the prohibition of the circulation of scooter-type personal mobility devices on the public roads of the Municipality, with the exception of approved cycle paths and cycle lanes, in accordance with the Law on the Regulation of the Circulation of Bicycles and Other Personal Mobility Devices (L.136(I)/2022).
According to a relevant announcement by the Municipality of Pafos, this decision, taken by the plenary session of the Municipal Council on October 7, 2024, aims to reduce risks and promote safety in the city of Pafos.
Drivers of scooter-type personal mobility devices found to be illegal will be reported by the Traffic Police, which will be responsible for implementing the new regulations in public spaces. At the same time, scooters left unattended on any road or sidewalk will be confiscated by the Pafos Municipality, and their owners will be burdened with additional penalties and procedures for the recovery of the devices.
The Pafos Municipality calls on citizens to comply with the decision of the Municipal Council and to use only the cycle paths and cycle lanes expressly permitted by law. In this way, they will contribute to the protection of road safety in our city, the announcement concludes.
