DESIGNED IN 1981, TO BE BUILT IN 2027

 Pafos Live 19 October 2024

After 43 years, the coastal road from the municipal boundaries of Pafos to the tourist area of Coral Bay in Pegeia enters the course of implementation. The project was first designed in 1981 but its construction had not progressed. A few days ago the master plan was approved and the plan is to call for tenders in 2026. Government departments and scholars are coordinating in order to "mature" a very important project for Pafos -  the reconstruction of the coastal road from the municipal boundaries of Pafos, the area of the Tombs of the Kings, up to Coral Bay. This road, in the western low area, gathers almost 30% of the tourist accommodation in the province and yet in many places it lacks street lighting and sidewalks. Pafos MP Charalambos Pazaros expressed his satisfaction with the development, stressing that the continuous efforts and pressures over the last three years are bearing fruit. The cost of the project is estimated to exceed forty million euros and will be executed in two phases.

The project will include 4 8km traffic lanes, a central island, cycle paths, paved areas, sidewalks, green lanes and spaces, and roadside parking lots. It will also include 7 level roundabouts and 8 light-controlled intersections.
