He was charged in writing and released to be summoned later by a 50-year-old man who had been in three-day detention to facilitate investigations in connection with an ongoing case of theft from a goldsmith's shop in Paphos.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Pafos Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 10.10.24 at about 12:00 a 74-year-old woman from Paphos, owner of a jewellery shop in Paphos, reported that on 8.10.24 an unknown man had stolen various items from her shop of a total value of €1,200.

This is, Mr. Nicolaou told CNA, an unknown man who, however, on the same day had gone to the store again as a customer and the woman had pointed him out to neighbours, who stopped him until the arrival of the police.

According to Mr. Nicolaou, this is a 50-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus, who was arrested with a court arrest warrant.

Subsequently, on October 11, he was brought before the Pafos District Court, which issued a three-day detention order against him. Today he was charged in writing to be subpoenaed later.

A large quantity of cannabis and cocaine was found and seized yesterday by YKAN, in the Limassol district. To facilitate interrogations, two persons, aged 47 and 41, were arrested and detained.

Specifically, after evaluating information, around 6.30 p.m. yesterday, members of the YKAN stopped a car, driven by a 41-year-old woman, on a Limassol road. The 47-year-old was also in the vehicle, while a search carried out found inside the vehicle and seized a quantity of cannabis, with a total gross weight of two kilograms and 180 grams of cannabis, and a quantity of cocaine, with a total weight of 105 grams. In the 47-year-old's possession, the sum of €1165 and three mobile phones were also located and confiscated.

This was followed by a search in an open area in the Limassol district, where the 47-year-old was previously seen. During the search, a bag containing a quantity of cannabis, gross weight of one kilogram and 90 grams and a quantity of cocaine, gross weight of one kilogram and 90 grams, was found in a bush.

Judicial arrest warrants were issued against the 47-year-old and the 41-year-old, under which they were arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.

Last night, the Police arrested a 25-year-old man originally from Bulgaria and a permanent resident of Pafos for an investigation of a case of burglary and theft of a residence.

The 25-year-old who appeared before the Paphos District Court today was also found with a small amount of drugs in his possession, according to the Police.  The Court ordered his 4-day detention to facilitate investigations. The TAE of Paphos is investigating.

The authorities in Paphos arrested a female prisoner on Sunday night after a police officer was injured.

According to what the Police reported to SigmaLive , specifically at 11 in the evening as the prisoner was being transferred from Nicosia to the Paphos Police Department, she attacked a police officer, kicking and abusing him.  Members of the police proceeded to arrest her for obvious offences.

A four-day detention order against a 32-year-old was issued on Sunday by the Paphos District Court to facilitate investigations, for an investigated case of theft by an employee.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on 11.10.24 it was reported by a 32-year-old security manager of a department store, which maintains a branch at Kings Avenue Mall, that two new mobile phones with a total value of €2,898 had been found to be missing.

From further tests carried out, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, a certain employee, aged 32, who was arrested with a judicial arrest warrant on October 12 at 4:00 p.m., was judged to be a suspect.  Yesterday, Sunday, he was brought before the Paphos District Court and a four-day detention order was issued against him.

Police in Paphos arrested three people overnight for drug possession. They are one Cypriot and two foreigners, who were detected during different checks carried out in areas of Pafos by police patrols for traffic and other illegalities.

In the first case, members of the Pafos Police Department spotted a 25-year-old Bulgarian man on foot,against whom unpaid warrants were pending.

In a subsequent search, a small quantity of drugs was found in his possession and he was arrested.

In another case, a foreigner who was intercepted and searched on a city street, was found to be in possession of a quantity of four grams of cannabis which he claimed was intended for his own use.

In the third case, a 23-year-old Greek Cypriot man was spotted by a patrol moving suspiciously in a parking lot. In a subsequent search, two grams of cannabis were found in his possession.

A total of four arrests have been made by the investigators of the Famagusta ICF in the context of investigating cases of burglaries and thefts from beer halls and beach bars committed during September in Paralimni and Ayia Napa respectively.

From the premises, sums of money, electronic devices and consumables were stolen already with a total value of €4,295.

Two of the arrested persons aged 17 are already in custody by the ICF Nicosia for similar cases while the fourth person, also 17 years old, was arrested on 12/10/24 in Ayia Napa under a court warrant and on 13/10/24 was brought before the Famagusta district court where a detention order was obtained against him for a period of 4 days.

The 17-year-old who was arrested on 8/10/24 and a detention order was secured against him on 9/10/24 for a period of 8 days continues to be in custody. As for the two 17-year-olds who are detained by the ICF of Nicosia, after being arrested and interrogated, they were transferred again to Nicosia for continued detention under detention orders.
