THIRD WORLD IMAGE IN INDUSTRIAL AREA OF TREMITHOUSA

 Pafos Live 10 September 2024

Businessmen operating in the industrial area of Tremithousa speak of a shameful situation on the roads of the industrial area of Tremithousa and the roads leading to it.

"The situation has now become uncontrollable, with the presence of garbage, debris, and a wealth of garbage that is not just limited to garbage from passing vehicles, but includes scrap metal, old and damaged cars and other unused materials that are left behind outside businesses in the area."

This image is not only appalling, they note, but poses an immediate risk to the safety and health of citizens, workers, and visitors to the region. Piles of rubbish are hotbeds of contamination, and countless rubble and scrap metal increase the risk of accidents, especially when blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic. "In addition, having damaged vehicles and unused materials just outside businesses creates an image of shame that customers of businesses visiting the area see.

The situation seems to be getting worse day by day, and if immediate and decisive actions are not taken by the community council and the competent authorities, the problem will reach an unmanageable point. I stress that the current situation is not only degrading the area, but is causing serious problems for businesses, which see their customers facing an image of abandonment and chaos before entering their premises."

The degradation of the area, according to the artisans of the area, directly and negatively affects the local economy, as no customer or partner would want to visit businesses in an area that resembles a garbage dump.

This is something that, if not addressed immediately, they conclude, will have negative consequences for the future of the industrial area and those who work in it and call for immediate measures.
