The Police, in view of the protest event that will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in Limassol, by fans of a Sports Club, informs the public that traffic in the city center is expected to be affected, since main roads will be closed to traffic from 6.30pm.
In particular, traffic is expected to be affected on Despinas and Nikos Pattichi Avenues, Archbishop Leontiou I, Archbishop Makarios III, and Dikaiarchou, Navarinou, 16th June, Victor Hugo, Mycenae, as well as other lanes.
As part of the protest event, around 6.45 p.m., the participants of the event fans of a Sports Club are scheduled to gather in an area west of Despina and Nikos Pattichi Avenues, from where they will then march on foot, on Despinas and Nikos Pattichi Avenue and Archbishop Leontiou I Avenue, to end up outside the Limassol Police Headquarters, where they will hold a rally and peaceful protest. for about 15 minutes. The participants will then return on foot, through the same streets, to their initial gathering place, where the protest will end.
For the safe conduct of the event and for the safety of the movements of citizens and participants in tomorrow's event, the following roads will be closed to passing vehicles, from 6.30 p.m., until the end of the event:
-Despinas and Nikos Pattichi Avenue, in both directions, between the junction with Dikaiarchou Street (traffic lights next to the car wash "Mr. Shine") and the intersection with Archbishop Makarios III Avenue. During the period that this section of Despina and Nikos Pattichi Avenue will remain closed, the entrance to the avenue, through its lanes, will not be allowed
-Archbishop Leontiou I Avenue, in both directions, between the junction with Archbishop Makarios III Avenue and Navarinou Street. The entrance of vehicles on Archbishop Leontiou I Avenue, from its lanes, will not be allowed
-16th June Street, in both directions, between the junction with Archbishop Leontiou I Avenue and the intersection with Victor Hugo and Mycenae streets
Members of the Police will be in the area to provide assistance and regulate traffic through alternative routes. At the end of the event, the roads will be opened to traffic gradually, until traffic is fully restored. Passing vehicle drivers, as well as the general public that will be moving in the area, are requested to comply with the instructions of the on-duty police officers.
