Police authorities in the free area of Famagusta have been put on alert after a body was found in a wooded area on the border of Ayia Napa.
According to initial information, the body is in a mummified state, while a forensic pathologist has been called to the scene to conduct examinations.

A large quantity of untreated tobacco products was found and confiscated by customs officers at Paphos airport last night. A woman of Turkish Cypriot origin who arrived from the occupied areas to travel from Pafos airport to a destination in Great Britain, was in possession of four whole luggage full of unadulterated products.
Customs officers during passport control found the woman, who was accompanying her minor child, moving in a way that aroused their suspicion. A search of her four large pieces of luggage found a total of 166 boxes of cigarettes and 750 roll-your-own tobacco.
The woman was arrested for an offence and then released after extrajudicially paying a fine of €9,000.

Members of the Police today arrested a second suspect for a case of burglary and theft, committed in Nicosia on August 29. The suspect, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on a warrant and taken into custody for investigation purposes. For the same case, another suspect, a 24-year-old man, was arrested, who is under eight-day detention, pursuant to a court order issued yesterday Thursday by the Nicosia District Court. The 24-year-old had been identified and arrested the previous day, by members of the Police, pursuant to a court warrant, following evidence that emerged against him. A 24-year-old man is in custody on a warrant for burglary and theft The case concerns the break-in of a kiosk in the province of Nicosia, which was committed early in the morning on August 29. From the stand, according to the complaint that has been submitted to the Police, the drawer with the money it contained, as well as a box of coins, was removed and stolen from the cash register. The case is being investigated by the TAE of Nicosia.
