Paphos Police arrested a 30-year-old woman to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of residential burglary and theft. 

According to the Assistant Police Director of Pafos Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 20.9.24 at about 21:00, a 40-year-old man reported that his holiday home in the area of Tremithousa had been burglarized and various items had been stolen. 

From further examinations carried out by the police, Mr. Nicolaou told CNA, the entrance of the perpetrator was achieved through the kitchen window, which was closed, but unsecured. 

Testimony was obtained against a woman, aged 30, against whom an arrest warrant was issued. She was arrested on 21.9.24 and detained.Under questioning, she pleaded guilty and handed over the stolen property.

Pafos Police arrested a 38-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of illegal possession of property and drugs. 

According to Pafos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 22.9.24 at about 19:30 members of the Pafos Crime Prevention Unit intercepted a 38-year-old pedestrian in Paphos. 

In his possession, Nicolaou told CNA, a quantity of cannabis was found, as well as various items suspected of being in illegal possession, such as an old-style Cypriot banknote, various British coins and banknotes and four pieces of valuables for which he allegedly did not give satisfactory explanations. 

He was subsequently arrested for illegal possession of narcotics and illegal possession of property. 

The 38-year-old is expected to be charged before the Paphos District Court, released and summoned later.

An operation aimed at combating noise pollution was carried out by the Pafos Police over the last three days, in the context of which the owners of 10 premises were reported.

According to Pafos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, during the three-day operation, 10 premises were reported, while in one case Mr. Nicolaou told CNA, on 21.9.24, pursuant to a court search warrant, they searched a premises located in Kennedy Square, which was operating without a license to transmit sound and without a license to operate alcoholic beverages.

Three speakers, an amplifier and a sound console were confiscated from the said premises, he continued, and handed over to the police as evidence.

In total, several owners were also reported in ten cases for various violations related to noise pollution, he added.

Coordinated operations to combat noise pollution will continue at a later stage, Nicolaou concluded.

Traces of cannabis allegedly contained in a handmade cigarette in the possession of a passenger at Paphos airport, resulting in his arrest by the police.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Pafos Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 21.9.24 at about 20:15 members of the Aliens and Immigration Service working at Pafos Airport, stopped a man, aged 50, who was going to travel abroad, for control in the departures area.

In the possession of the 50-year-old, Nicolaou said, a handmade cigarette 10cm long was found containing manufactured tobacco mixed with traces of green matter, namely cannabis.

Subsequently, the 50-year-old was arrested for the offence of illegal possession of narcotic substances, handed over to the YKAN (Paphos Unit), charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

The details of four other persons were obtained by the Police, which were recorded by the closed circuit, illegally entering the "Alphamega" stadium, on Sunday, September 15, to watch the derby Apollon – AEL, which was eventually postponed.

According to the ICF of Limassol, court warrants have been issued against the four persons and they are wanted, while investigations continue to secure the identity of 22 other persons.

On Saturday, ten people who had been arrested for the riots were released in writing and their fan cards were cancelled to be summoned to court later.
