A 34-year-old man was arrested today by members of the Police in connection with an investigation into an attempted arson of a car, committed last June, in Nicosia. The 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody, with the Nicosia ICF investigating.
According to the data under investigation, on June 22, at around 11.20 pm, a fire broke out in dry grass, at a point where a car was parked, in the area of Kaimakli, in Nicosia. The fire was extinguished by residents before it spread to the car, while members of the Police and Fire Brigade rushed to the scene for examinations.
The fire, as found by the examinations carried out at the scene, had been maliciously set by the use of flammable material on the dry grass located around the parked car, while the car had also been doused with flammable material. The car was stolen on 3 April, from an area in Larnaca.
Subsequent police examinations revealed evidence against the 34-year-old suspect. A judicial arrest warrant was issued against him on Friday, under which he was arrested shortly after 11.30 pm on Saturday and taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the case.
