Two foreigners, residents of Paphos, were arrested last night by the police for possession of drugs and offensive instruments, while in both cases the foreigners were quarrelsome with the police.
In the first case, members of the Pafos police department intercepted a moped on which a 27-year-old Cameroonian asylum seeker was traveling. The 27-year-old did not hold a driver's license and the moped did not have the necessary certificates either. A small quantity of drugs was found in his possession and when the police asked for his details, he attacked them.
He was eventually arrested, taken to the central police station where it was found that fine warrants were pending against him, charged in writing and released. In another case in Peyia, a 40-year-old Palestinian, also an asylum seeker, had a bat and a small amount of cannabis in his vehicle when he was stopped for inspection.
The Palestinian refused to undergo a drug test, was initially arrested, charged in writing later and released.

YKAN Limassol made two more arrests late Wednesday afternoon in connection with the detection and seizure of two kilos of cocaine found in the possession of a 33-year-old man.
As Filenews learns, from further examinations, YKAN investigators reached the traces of a 23-year-old and a 34-year-old, who were allegedly the drivers of two vehicles, at the time of the drug contraband find.
The Limassol YKAN had received information that the 33-year-old would receive a bag containing drugs from a vehicle early in the afternoon. Thus, a coordinated operation was set up and the suspect was placed under close surveillance.
The 33-year-old approached with his large displacement motorcycle, a vehicle parked at a specific point in the area of Zakaki and received a bag from it.
After receiving the bag, members of the Limassol YKAN tried to immobilize him, with the 33-year-old running on foot leaving the bag on the ground. However, he did not manage to escape and was arrested.
Further examinations revealed evidence against two other persons who were later arrested on court warrants. The three arrested are expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court tomorrow for a request for their detention.

The burglars broke into the apartment along the Limassol coast, managed to open the safe and stole jewellery, luxury watches and cash valued at €820,000.
However, they were caught on the building’s CCTV, the footage of which was evaluated by the police.
Police are continuing investigations and searching for the second person caught on the CCTV.
