The British Bases welcomed singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran this weekend as he visited British troops and their families at Dhekelia Base, organised by The British Forces Foundation (BFF).
The successful British man was in Cyprus for the last two performances of his historic "Mathematics Tour" and despite his busy schedule, he wanted to meet BB military personnel and their families, who were excited.

"That Ed put his time and extraordinary talent into four full hours, between two shows and a very busy schedule, was an extraordinary gesture that had an incredible impact – he's the best," said BFF Foundation Director Mark Cann.
Sheeran spent the afternoon talking to soldiers, signing autographs, taking selfies and sharing stories. Then followed a performance at the rugby stadium of Dhekelia.
During the concert, Sheeran played some of his most beloved songs for an active audience, members of the military service and their families.

"It has been an absolute privilege to host Ed and to have him here spending time with fantastic people who make up the British Forces in Cyprus," said 1Rifles Commander Lieutenant Colonel Colin Oliver. "These men and women are sacrificing a lot and we are very grateful to Ed and the British Forces Foundation team for taking the time to visit BB in Cyprus."

Many soldiers and families expressed excitement at the opportunity to meet Sheeran, with one stating: "How lucky we are! I can't believe it. It means a lot that someone like him gave his time for us and supported us. We love you Ed."
The visit ended with Sheeran taking photos with the families, leaving behind an unforgettable memory for everyone involved, before going to play the grand final show, in a "sold out" concert for the Cypriot audience, at the "Land of Tomorrow" venue in Larnaca.
