With a reduced environmental footprint, works on the Akamas road network are expected to resume from October.
According to the competent minister, Maria Panayiotou, a reassessment has been carried out by the Department of Environment and will be completed with a reduced environmental footprint without delays.
He noted that some things have been removed to reduce the environmental footprint and communities are aware. He said that for the projects of the first phase, the views of experts were taken into account and communities were informed.
He noted that the projects have not departed from the initial plan with a horizon of implementation of all projects in 2027. For the projects of the second phase, he said that they should be evaluated based on the views of stakeholders and experts.
