NICOSIA RING ROAD - FIRST PHASE DELIVERED. HOW DOES THE PROJECT PROCEED?

Upon completion of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway project, there will be uninterrupted and continuous traffic between western Nicosia and Larnaka and Limassol via the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, the Director of the Department of Public Works Eleftherios Eleftheriou told CNA.

Mr. Eleftheriou, referring to the delivery today of the first phase (A1) of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, said that the project connects the Nicosia – Limassol motorway with the Tseri roundabout and provides unhindered movement of vehicles and citizens from Limassol to Nicosia through the interchange to Tseriou Avenue, the wider area of western Nicosia and from the area of western Nicosia to Limassol and Larnaca.

He added that it is planned to follow two more phases, B3, which will start from the government settlements of Anthoupoli and will reach the existing road of Deftera.

He went on to say that phase B3 has been tendered and bids are expected to be submitted on September 20, with the aim of proceeding with the evaluation, awarding a bid and starting the project by the end of the year.

He further mentioned that phase C will follow, which will connect the existing node of Anthoupoli with the new node in Ergates.

"We will be ready to tender this project in the first quarter of 2025," he added.

He reiterated that upon completion of the project there will be uninterrupted and continuous traffic between western Nicosia and Larnaka and Limassol via the Nicosia-Limassol motorway.

Finally, he said that the central islet constructed in the project that was delivered, will be landscaped within September-October as weather conditions will allow.

According to the announcement of the Department of Public Works, Phase A1 concerns a 7.5 km long motorway. approximately connecting the existing Nicosia – Limassol motorway (A1) with Tseriou Avenue, as well as 10 km. connecting roads to restore connections to the existing road network.

It includes an interchange next to the Dali Industrial Area to enter the Nicosia – Limassol motorway in both directions, a bridge connecting the existing old Nicosia – Limassol road (B1) with the Nicosia – Limassol motorway (A1), an interchange next to the Tseri Industrial Area and a level terminal roundabout at the junction with Tseriou / Pefkou Avenues.
