Members of the Police, along with officers of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance in the Pafos district, followed the coordinated actions to combat illegal employment, illegal employment and undeclared work, in the context of which a 23-year-old man was arrested for illegal employment, while a case of illegal employment is being investigated against his 32-year-old employer. 

According to an announcement by the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, in an inspection operation, which took place yesterday, in a building under construction, in the district of Paphos, a total of 47 persons were checked, with a total of 10 employers. Notices of violations of undeclared work were served on two employers, as well as on a self-employed person, while one person, a third-country national, was arrested for the offence of illegal employment. 

He was arrested by members of the Police, in particular, a 23-year-old man, who was found working illegally in the building under construction. The 23-year-old, who resides legally in the Republic, worked at the premises without holding a license from the competent authority. His employer, as found by the examinations carried out, is a 32-year-old man. A case of illegal employment is being investigated against the 32-year-old. 

Members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – Pafos YAM participated in the inspection operation, in cooperation with inspectors of the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, as reported.

The arrest of a 27-year-old man, suspected of committing a robbery on Tuesday night, at a kiosk in Limassol, was carried out by members of the Police. The suspect was detained for police examinations, with the ICF Limassol investigating the robbery case.

According to the evidence under investigation, shortly after 11.30 pm on Tuesday, a man entered a kiosk in Limassol, where after taking various products, he tried to leave the store, but without having paid for the products.

The suspect was spotted by the 23-year-old kiosk worker, who locked the door of the premises to prevent the suspect from leaving. The suspect then attacked the 23-year-old, hitting him with a plastic rod in his possession. After the 23-year-old worker then unlocked the door of the kiosk, the assailant stole three boxes of cigarettes from a shelf next to the cash register and fled.

Members of the Police rushed to the scene for examinations, which revealed evidence against the 27-year-old. He was located by members of the ICF Limassol around 1.00 pm on Wednesday and after being arrested with a court warrant, he was detained.

The 23-year-old kiosk worker, who was injured in the hands during the attack, received medical examinations and treatment at Limassol General Hospital, from where he was discharged on Wednesday morning.
