What regional tensions and beating war drums? According to the latest Hermes Airports data, including bookings, the August high peak season is set for really good numbers, with more than 1.5 million expected arrivals, coupled with the fact that passenger traffic to and from Cyprus has reached a record 6.6 million from January to July.
One notable example is June, where 1,3 million passengers travelled to and from Larnaca (900,000) and Paphos airports, an increase of 105% compared to the same month last year.
The traditional holiday month, as noted, will not disappoint yet again, with Hermes Airports data indicating that visitors are expected to exceed 1.5 million, clearly showing that arrival numbers have stabilised or even gone up in comparison to last year and in spite of growing regional instability and a raging war in Gaza, across Cyprus shores.
In terms of connectivity, this August Cyprus is being served by 55 airlines with 156 destinations to and from 38 countries.
Maria Kouroupi, Director of Marketing and Communication at Hermes Airports said that ‘despite certain external challenges at the start of the year, efforts to improve have yielded reflects reflected in the performance of Cyprus airports’, adding that from January through to July, Larnaca and Paphos airports ‘recorded the highest ever passenger traffic’.
Hermes express the hope that this positive trend will continue and make 2024 a milestone for Cyprus tourism.
