The risk of explosion and expansion of forest fires will be at "Red Alert" level on Wednesday, according to an announcement by the Department of Forests.
The announcement underlines that lighting a fire without permission is prohibited and that it is an offense which, according to the Forest Law of 2012, is punishable by imprisonment up to 10 years or a fine of up to €50.000.00 or both penalties together and according to the Rural Fire Prevention Law of 1988 up to 5 years or a fine of up to €20.000 or both penalties.
He notes that lighting a fire for food preparation is allowed only in the barbecues of picnic areas.
It also "strongly appeals to the public to be particularly careful during their excursions, completely avoiding actions and activities that may cause fire, such as the use of tools or agricultural machinery that generate heat, sparks or flame, such as emery, welding and welding."
Finally, the Department of Forests calls anyone who notices smoke or fire to call immediately 1407 (Department of Forests) or 112 (Fire Service).
