PAPHOS SCHOOL HAS NOT YET RECEIVED A PERMIT, BUT ADVERTISES IT WILL OPEN IN SEPTEMBER

The Ministry of Education has filed a complaint with the police regarding another case of the establishment of a private school, which even before receiving its final approval and relevant operating license, advertises that it will operate in September.

It is located in the district of Paphos, for which there are photos that show that its infrastructure is far from ready to welcome students and staff, about a month and a half before the start of the new school year.

A competent source of the Ministry of Education told "F", when he pointed out the issue, that it is a school that will be built, will cover Primary and Secondary Education, and which, in order to get final approval and therefore to operate, must definitely secure and submit a number of licenses provided by law. As it was clarified, these permits concern its infrastructure and building facilities, as its academic part does not have any problem. According to the same source, the aspect that has to do with the education that this school will offer has been evaluated and approved. However, final approval is pending for it to operate and will only be given when all other permits are presented.

The fact that the school advertises that it has a license to operate in September was characterized as illegal by the Ministry and indeed, as has been pointed out to us, all necessary representations were made to the competent authorities. "It is not allowed to be advertised at this stage," we were told.

We were also told that when cases are detected where schools without having the necessary license, advertise that they will operate, then a complaint is submitted to the Police as there is a violation of the current legislation. Even if all the necessary permits are submitted and a school operates normally, the complaint is not withdrawn as the illegality has already taken place.
