The Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Deloitte Triton Paphos Marina Consortium signed on Monday a contract for the provision of consultancy services regarding the conduct of the tender process for the development of the Paphos Marina project.
The aim of the contract is to announce and carry out a tender process for the selection of a strategic investor, in order to develop the project using the method D.B.F.O.T. (Design, Built, Finance, Operate, Transfer).
An announcement by the Deputy Ministry states that the marina is planned to be built in the area of Potima, in Kissonerga and the successful investor will have the opportunity either for the construction of a marina with a capacity of one thousand boats, which will include residential and commercial development, or for the combined development of a marina of one thousand boats, with infrastructure for the reception of cruise ships, which will also include residential and commercial development.
It is noted that the total duration of the contract is 30 months. The announcement of the project is expected to take place in nine to twelve months from the signing of the contract, that is, from today.
The award of the marina project to the successful investor is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
In the coming months, consultations with both public and private bodies are planned, as provided by the contract, in order to finalize the parameters of the project.
Deputy Minister Costas Koumis said that the first step is being taken today for the implementation of a momentous project that is expected to give new momentum to the development prospects of the entire province.
"Undoubtedly projects of this scope and dynamic, upgrade the offered tourism product of our country, and define the development course of tourism for the coming decades," he said.
Pafos Marina is the 4th marina where the supervision of the project is undertaken by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
Mr. Koumis said that all projects lay the foundations for the further development of nautical tourism and in particular yachting tourism, a form of tourism characterized mainly by high-income visitors with all that this entails.
