Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Sunday to facilitate investigations, as part of an investigation into a case of residential burglary and theft, as well as two cases involving attempted burglary.

According to an announcement by the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, the person in question was spotted on Sunday by members of the Pafos ICF while driving his car in an area of Paphos. The 35-year-old tried to flee and drove his vehicle into a field and after abandoning it fled on foot, but was arrested by members of the Police.

In a subsequent search, he was allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of drugs, while inside his vehicle were found, among others, burglary tools, eleven factory firecrackers, four watches, two mobile phones and a laptop computer.

The 35-year-old was arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody, while according to the evidence under investigation, he is allegedly involved in a case of residential burglary and theft of gold, committed in June in Paphos, as well as in two cases of attempted burglary committed in July, also in Paphos.

The Paphos Police arrested a 35-year-old man of Polish origin last night in Kennedy Square.

In particular, a man who was in the central square of Paphos late on Sunday night (28/07) was lying on a bench in front of the nightclubs in the area where there were also several patrons. The Police were called to the scene after the image of a man lying on a bench in Kennedy Square with purses and various bags of clothes and other personal belongings caused a sensation among those present.

When the Police arrived at the scene and asked the gentleman in question what he was doing there, he replied that he had been kicked out of his house and had nowhere to go. Subsequently, after identifying the person in question, the members of the Police took him to the Paphos Central Police Station.  

According to information from PafosPress, the specific person seems to be facing various health problems, as a result of which the relevant state services have already been informed to jointly handle this case.

The Pafos Police arrested a 29-year-old man yesterday Sunday for illegal stay on the territory of the Republic, while his employer will also be accused of illegal employment and employment.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on Sunday morning members of the Paphos Aliens and Immigration Service spotted a person cleaning the store in an ice cream parlor - following information that foreigners were working illegally in that building.

As it was established, this is a 29-year-old man who allegedly stayed in the Republic illegally since 14.7.24 and was arrested for the spontaneous crime of illegal stay and illegal employment and is in custody, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE.  

His employer, aged 35, a permanent resident of Cyprus, was summoned to the Paphos Police Station and questioned, while today Monday he is expected to be charged before a Court of Justice to be summoned later.

One hundred and seventy-five complaints were made in the last three days to prevent road traffic collisions, with 31 of them relating to speeding.

As the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, told KYPE, of the 175 drivers who were reported, 9 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, 4 were for driving under the influence of drugs, while 31 drivers were reported for driving at excessive speed.

Mr. Nikolaou noted that during the stopping of vehicles and the controls carried out by the Paphos Police, a 29-year-old person who was in possession of a quantity of narcotics was identified and arrested, with YKAN (Klimakio Paphos) taking over the case.

In another case, a 39-year-old person, a permanent resident of Cyprus, was identified, who was allegedly in possession of a prohibited type of knife. The 39-year-old was subsequently arrested, charged in writing and released to be summoned at a later date.

Also, in two other cases, the Paphos Police proceeded to arrest two drivers because they were driving recklessly and dangerously and committed traffic offenses, as Mr. Nikolaou said. The two persons were subsequently charged in writing and released to be summoned at a later date.

The coordinated operations of the Police to prevent traffic collisions will continue at a later stage, Mr. Nikolaou concluded.

The man wanted for the attempted murder committed at dawn on Saturday (27/07), on Agiou Andreou Street, was found in a supermarket café in Limassol.

According to the Police, on Sunday, and after the publication of photographs of the alleged perpetrator, information was given to the ICF of Limassol that an unknown foreigner of African origin, whose description corresponded to the photos released, was in a supermarket café in Limassol.

Immediate members of the Limassol OPE went to the place where they located a 32-year-old suspect. A body search in his possession revealed a knife with blood stains.

He was arrested for a flagrant offense and taken to the ICF of Limassol for further investigation.

It is recalled that around 4 am on Saturday, information was received about an injured person in an area of Limassol. Members of the Police went to the scene, where they located an injured man, aged 33, who was picked up by an ambulance and taken to Limassol General Hospital.

The 33-year-old, according to attending physicians, has two sharp object wounds to the back. He underwent surgery and is hospitalized by intubation, in the intensive care unit of Limassol Hospital, with his condition considered stable.

According to testimony obtained by police, the 33-year-old was allegedly injured, under investigated circumstances, by a person who fled the scene before police arrived. The attacker, during the same incident, allegedly injured a 25-year-old man, who also fled the scene.

Around 9 a.m. The same day, the 25-year-old went to Limassol General Hospital for treatment. He was found to have a traumatic wound to his right shoulder. He was admitted to the Orthopaedic Department, where he underwent surgery and suturing of his wounds.

According to the police, the scene on Agiou Andreou Street was photographed and various documents were received that will be sent for scientific examinations.

Police arrested a 32-year-old woman in connection with the case of possession of a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of approximately 40 kg, two pistols, in addition to 2,000 pistol cartridges and a sum of €12,400. The 36-year-old, who was arrested during a coordinated operation by YKAN last Saturday, remains in custody, with the YKAN Unit in Limassol continuing examinations.

The coordinated operation of the YKAN was carried out on Saturday afternoon, following the collection and evaluation of information, in the context of actions to combat drug trafficking. Members of the YKAN stopped a car driven by the 36-year-old suspect on a Limassol road for inspection. During the search that followed, the 36-year-old was found in possession of two nylon packages containing cannabis, with a total gross weight of six grams, while inside the vehicle were found and seized two more nylon packages with cannabis, with a total gross weight of 2 kg and the amount of €12,400. The 36-year-old was arrested for flagrant offences.

A search was then carried out at an apartment in Limassol, the keys of which had been found in the 36-year-old's possession. During the search, six travel suitcases containing a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of 38 kg, were located and seized. A small quantity of cocaine with a gross weight of half a gram and a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of two grams were also seized.

Also, in a cabinet inside the apartment, two pistols, in usable condition, and 14 pistol cartridges, as well as two cardboard boxes, containing a total of 2,000 9mm calibre rounds, were found and confiscated.

A judicial arrest warrant was obtained against the 36-year-old, under which he was arrested, while on Sunday morning he was brought before the Limassol District Court, which, at the request of the Police, issued an eight-day detention order for the purpose of investigating the case.

As part of the investigation of the case, evidence emerged against the 32-year-old as well. A judicial arrest warrant was issued against her, under which she was arrested around 11:00 on Sunday night and taken into custody for police examinations.

The YKAN (Limassol District Unit) and the ICF Limassol continue the examinations.
