PAFOS INVESTS FURTHER IN CREATIVE TOURISM - OPEN STUDIOS OF PHYTIOTIKO WEAVING IN PHYTI
Phyti Village - open workshops in 7 homecrafts in the village
Every Saturday & Sunday from 6 July to 18 August - 9.30am-1.30pm
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism , the expatriate association and the Phyti community council with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism are organizing for the first time in the history of the community, Οpen workshops in 7 homecrafts.
The workshops will take place every Saturday and Sunday from July 6 th to August 18 th , 2024 between the hours of 09:30-13:30.
Through the workshops the weavers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their art while the visitors will be able to learn about the medieval art of Phytiotiko, get to know the weavers as they produce culture and admire the creation of this unique art. In some cases, visitors will also have the opportunity to try the use of the loom, the various objects, the thread, etc.
Visitors who will be in the area will have the opportunity to visit the site of the Oak of Akrikous, a beautiful resting place recently renovated with natural running water where a unique monument of nature, the 1000 year old Oak stands tall. Here you can scan the SMART sign to learn more about the century old tree. There is also a possibility of meals or drinks in an outlet that operates in the center of the community.
Pafos Tourism Board, through this effort and the implementation of intensive promotional campaign expects to elevate further the awareness level of the community and rural Pafos, the value of the Phytiotiko weaving and increase the number of visitors in the area.
