The contract between ETYFA and the CPP-METRON Consortium Ltd (CMC Ltd) for the construction of the natural gas liquefaction terminal in Vasilikos is about to be terminated, the Minister of Energy announced in Parliament.
Speaking during a briefing of the House Standing Committee on Energy, Papanastasiou announced that the two sides are heading towards termination of the contract, with ETYFA studying other ways to complete the project. As the Minister of Energy explained, the many extensions taken by the consortium show that there was no destination for the completion of the project.
The Minister of Energy also informed that negotiations with the construction company for the shipment of the floating unit are in the final stage, with ETYFA aiming to sail the ship as soon as possible and at the same time to terminate the contract.
