WHO WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE PAFOS DISTRICT SELF-GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION FROM 1 JULY?

The Pafos District Self-Government Organisation, chaired by Charalambos Pittokopitis, takes office on July 1st. It will handle the development issues of the Pafos district, through the issuance of town planning and building permits, water supply, garbage and wastewater.

Charalambos Pittokopitis will be joined by a 16-member board of directors in which the four mayors of the municipalities of the province will participate. One member of the municipal council will also participate from East Pafos municipality and five other council members from Paphos municipality. Ten of the 17 members of the council will come from the municipalities of Pafos while the remaining six will come from the communities and will be determined after the elections for the leadership of the Union of Pafos communities, the president and the first five.

The council will elect two vice-presidents at its first meeting, scheduled for mid-July. The first vice-president will come from the municipalities and the second vice-president from the communities.
