As of 2019, the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) and several European countries are organizing Wednesday, June 19, 2024, across the EU, the Focus Day on the prevention of residential burglaries. The aim of this initiative is to intensify the fight against this type of crime by informing citizens how they can protect their homes.
This type of crime has been declining for many years in most European countries, but it still accounts for the majority of organized property crime offenses and has a significant economic impact on society. By committing housebreaking offences, however, it is not just people's homes that are being broken into, but also the sense of security they feel at home. For 2024, the information campaign of the EUCPN focuses on the awareness of members of the Police in order to inform the public about burglary prevention measures and to reduce their repeat victimization. * With the participation of 23 European countries, Europol and the European Commission
