PALLIATIVE CARE UNDER GESY

PALLIATIVE CARE UNDER GESY

What palliative care services are provided at GeSY
The service, as a modern human-centered health system, provides palliative care services to people with cancer at all stages of the disease.
Specific services are categorized into home palliative and institutional palliative health care services.
The beneficiary, in order to have access to home or institutional palliative care services, needs to be examined by the attending physician and, if deemed necessary, will be issued with a referral for inpatient care (palliative care services). Next, he can contact GESY palliative care providers and arrange an appointment. The contact details of the palliative care providers can be found on the GeSY website (www.gesy.org.cy) in the search for providers or by following the link below https://www.gesy.org.cy/provider-search and then selecting a specific provider.
Depending on the diagnosis and based on their health status, the beneficiary can receive home services from a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, which includes a doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, clinical psychologist and social worker. Each case is managed by the providers based on individualized criteria, according to the needs of the beneficiary, without there being a limit predetermined by the Organization to the number of visits of each profession.
However, when a beneficiary receives home palliative care services from a contracted provider, he or she may not receive services from other health care professionals other than those providing their services in the context of palliative care.
