Paphos FC has a plan ready for the new "Stelios Kyriakides", with the total cost of the renovation estimated at over €30 million.
"F" reports that the plans of the club's investors are to spend an additional two million euros for the upgrade of the Iakoveio Gymnasium and the Municipal Stadium of Geroskipou, which will be part of the general planning for the sports infrastructure of the province, so that Stelios Kyriakides can be modified for the current needs of the city's football team.
The intention of the Pafian team is that after the complete renovation of "Stelios Kyriakides", it will have a capacity of 8,000 seats (from 3,000 the two large stands and from 1,000 the two horseshoes). The design also provides for the construction of a 3,000-seat indoor stadium right next to the football stadium, with the two stadiums essentially forming a single complex. The new stadium and arena will also provide the opportunity to organize concerts and other events, while providing a complete solution for the city's infrastructure.
The foreign investors of Paphos FC stress, however, that they still consider a series of actions and intentions regarding the attempted upgrade of the city's sports infrastructure to be wrong. They cite as an example the reconstruction of Stelios Kyriakides' stadium for €1.8 million in a stadium that needs demolition, as they characteristically point out. There can be no international matches in this stadium either, they stress, pointing out that it should become a stadium that will provide for both a basketball court and a volleyball court.
Regarding the amount that Paphos FC will allocate for the stadium, they claim that they are willing to spend more than €30 million and express the hope that after the recent contacts made, the new management of the CSO will assist in the creation of the new stadium since they themselves have made it clear that they will put all the money for this purpose.
