Police in Paphos arrested a 20-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of conspiracy to commit a felony, residential burglary and theft. A second person is wanted in the same case.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on June 16 at 15:30, a 28-year-old woman from Paphos reported that between June 14 and 16, her residence in Paphos was burglarized and various alcoholic beverages as well as gold jewellery were stolen. Examinations revealed that the entrance to the house was achieved through a closed but unsecured door.

On June 17, a person went to a pawnshop in Paphos and presented gold jewellery in order to sell it. The employee expressed suspicion that it may be stolen goods and then he fled, leaving the jewellery there.

Members of the Paphos Police visited the place, conducted examinations and secured testimony that he was a 20-year-old man from Paphos against whom an arrest warrant was issued. On the same day, at 4:20 p.m., he was located and arrested on a court warrant.

Further examinations revealed that another person appeared to be involved in the burglary. He is a 35-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus, against whom an arrest warrant has been issued and he is wanted.

Police in Paphos have arrested a 33-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an investigation into the theft of two collectible bottles of whisky worth €5,000.

The foreigner had stolen the whiskies from a wine cellar in Paphos a few days ago.  He had very expensive tastes...

The police proceeded to the arrest of the suspended archimandrite Nektarios. An arrest warrant was issued against him for offences including conspiracy to defraud, theft from an agent, obtaining money by false representation, unlawful possession of property and interfering with legal proceedings.

About 11 charges are being investigated against him. The suspended archimandrite is expected to appear before a court.

The Police in Paphos proceeded to arrest a 32-year-old woman to facilitate investigations into a case of theft.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on June 17, a 33-year-old woman, who is a store manager, reported that the previous day around 7:30 p.m., the alarm system sounded, while a 32-year-old employee of the store was working.

The employee was stopped by a security guard and inside her bag were found two pieces of clothing new from the store worth approximately €53, which the employee seems to have taken without paying the corresponding value.

Further inside the personal closet were found four more pieces of new clothes which she seems to have taken without paying for them. The findings have been received as evidence. She was arrested on Monday on a warrant and taken into custody.

Members of various departments of the Limassol Police Directorate carried out coordinated policing actions over the past three days, as part of the measures taken by the Police to prevent and suppress crime. At the same time, traffic police checks were carried out, as part of actions to reduce road collisions and increase road safety.

From Friday evening until Monday morning, members of the Police, among others, carried out checks in various areas of Limassol, during which a total of 508 persons and 480 vehicles were checked, as well as a number of premises and private security guards.

During police checks, three arrests were made regarding cases that are being investigated against them, while during patrols and checks at specific points and areas, two motorcycles were detected by the members of the Police, the theft of which had been reported to the Police.

In the context of the inspections for the operation of premises and the causing of nuisance, the managers of four premises were reported, three of which operated without a license from the competent Authority and without a license for the use of loudspeakers and the sale of alcoholic beverages, while the fourth premises operated without a license from the competent Authority and without a license for the sale of alcoholic beverages.

In traffic checks carried out over the three days, 21 persons were found driving their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and were reported. There were 51 cases for serious traffic offences, while another 115 out-of-court complaints were made for various traffic offences. As part of traffic checks, 15 vehicles were seized, of which 11 cars and 4 motorcycles.

The actions of the Police to tackle crime, delinquency, and traffic offenses continue daily, in order to ensure public order and increase the sense of security of citizens.
