An eight-day detention order against a 45-year-old and a 44-year-old man on suspicion of stealing the car of candidate MEP Phidias Panayiotou was issued within the day by the Nicosia District Court.

The two persons, of Greek Cypriot and Georgian origin, respectively, were arrested yesterday by members of the Police.

The ICF of Nicosia obtained scientific testimony linking them to the theft of Panayiotou's car and led to their identification. It should be noted that the vehicle was parked under the apartment building where the candidate lives.

The two are now also suspects in a case of burglary and theft from a store, committed last Wednesday, June 5.

Specifically, during their arrest and the search inside the car, it was found that inside the vehicle there was merchandise of the store, the total value of which is estimated at €3-4 thousand.
